Which Outlander locations are in Edinburgh?
Outlander is series of books and television shows from author and creator, Diana Gabaldon. It’s a romantic time-travel series set in Scotland and beyond. It spans several historical periods, including the Jacobite Risings of the 1700s and post-WW2 1940s. Outlander has become something of a phenomenon, with tourists flocking to Scotland to visit the locations that inspired the stories.
Edinburgh’s Old Town dates back to Medieval times, so you might feel like you’ve fallen through time on a visit to the city! Some places in Edinburgh inspired Gabaldon’s books, and some were used as interior or exterior filming locations for earlier series’ of the TV show.
