The Stand

The Stand

Address: 5 York Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3EB

The Stand is a comedy club on York Place in Edinburgh’s New Town. The first of its kind in the city, The Stand has been hosting live stand-up comedy shows at this venue since 1998. It’s a major venue for the Festival Fringe in August, but operates all year round. Showcasing new talent as well as established acts.

This is the original Edinburgh comedy club and it is still going strong. The weekly Friday and Saturday shows feature a variety of comedians, usually including a headline act. Other regular shows include Red Raw, an open-mic night for beginners, and The Best of Scottish Comedy, with at least four local comedians on the bill. Famous acts often come to The Stand when touring their shows too, so look out for your favourites. The bar is open for all performances and food is served at selected times too.
