Bedlam Theatre is home to the Edinburgh University Theatre Company. The theatre is entirely student-run, and puts on around 40 shows per year. Set within a 19th-century church building, which has been converted into a 90-seat performance space, it has striking Gothic revival architecture. Every August, it becomes a Fringe Festival venue, allowing artists and performers from around the world to put on shows in the venue. It’s a great place to catch a show, with a changing programme of plays, musicals, concerts, comedy, improv and more.
Bedlam is a nurturing ground for theatrical talent, offering opportunities for students to act, direct, produce, design and run each production. It is a black box theatre, meaning it is has a simple stage with black walls and floor. This allows it to be used flexibly for a wide variety of different performances.
