The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh was built in 1883 and retains many of its original features. Named after the Lyceum Theatre in London, the venue seats up to 658 people and is known predominately for its high-quality drama productions. Since 1965, the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company has been in residence at the theatre.
Since 1965, the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company has been in residence at the theatre. With a commitment to nurturing local talent, today the company performs a programme of up to eight plays per year. Making it one of the largest producing companies in the UK. During August each year, the theatre is hired out to visiting companies to become one of the main performance venues for the Edinburgh International Festival.
