The Odeon Lothian Road is a small cinema complex in Edinburgh. It first opened as ABC’s Regal Cinema in 1938 and has operated under a few different names. During the 1960s, the venue hosted several live concerts, with many big stars performing there, including The Beatles. In 2000, the building closed and its interior was completely rebuilt, reopening in 2003 as a modern 4-screen cinema run by Odeon Cinemas. The art deco-style exterior facade is a B-listed building and remains in tact.
Odeon Lothian Road shows a wide selection of films, ranging from the latest Hollywood blockbusters to small, independent and international films. It has 4 screens, offering an exciting cinematic experience with RealD 3D cinema technology. Its largest screen accommodates 295 guests. For convenience, there are three fast ticket machines in the foyer for quick pick-up. Each screen is equipped with wheelchair spaces and can provide audio descriptions. There is also a pizza restaurant, CROMA, on the ground floor, which is open to both cinema-goers and non-cinema-goers.
