The Scotland’s People Centre is a dedicated space within the National Records of Scotland building in Edinburgh, where you can carry out genealogy and ancestry research. You can book a seat to access digital records and indexes, such as births marriages and deaths, church registers, censuses, legal records and so much more. Staff are on hand to guide you in your search, and you can save or print copies of many of the records for your reference.
This is a great resource if you are looking into your Scottish roots and heritage while in Edinburgh. You can also access the records remotely by setting up an online account here. However, many people prefer to visit in person to make use of the research facilities and assistance. The centre is conveniently located at the east end of Princes Street, just across from Waverley Station. Book a seat in advance to secure your space.
