Dovecot Studios is a renowned centre for contemporary arts and textiles. Established in 1912 by the Marquess of Bute, the studio’s first home was in the Corstorphine area, built next to an old castle dovecot (a shelter for nesting birds), hence the name. The studio is now housed in a beautiful renovated Victorian building in the city centre, which was once a public swimming pool and wash house. Over time, Dovecot has retained its heritage while continually innovating, mixing traditional with modern weaving techniques. Art is both produced and exhibited in its unique setting, and the studios also hosts a programme of vibrant events and workshops.
With a strong commitment to craftsmanship, Dovecot Studios works closely with artists and designers to create bespoke textiles and tapestries.
