Dalkeith Country Park

Dalkeith Country Park is the large park, courtyard and former stableyard, which surrounds Dalkeith Palace. Owned by the Duke of Buccleuch and family for over 300 years, the site was redeveloped into a visitor attraction in 2016, complete with walking and cycling routes, children’s adventure playground, store, restaurant, coffee bar and wellness space.
Dalkeith Palace itself is not open to the public, but the stunning 18th century building is viewable from the park. Woodland walking and cycle routes are waymarked, with varying degrees of difficulty. At Fort Douglas kids can slide, climb, swing and tunnel their way through the adventure playground. And at the Restoration Yard, you’ll find places to eat, shop and relax for the whole family.
