Royal Commonwealth Pool
Address: 21 Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh, EH16 5BB
This Olympic-sized swimming pool was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games and was also a venue for the 1986 games, both held in Edinburgh. It was then used for 2014 games, hosted by Glasgow, after undergoing an extensive refurbishment in 2012.
Known as the “Commonwealth Pool” or simply the “Commie”, this is the largest swimming pool in Edinburgh at 50 m by 25 m. The venue is used for elite swimming and diving competitions and events in Scotland. But it is open to the public too for swim sessions and classes. In addition to the large main swimming pool, there is a diving pool, teaching pool, fitness studios, gym, children’s soft play and café.
