Summerhall Distillery (Pickering’s Gin)

Address: 1 Summerhall, Edinburgh, EH9 1PL

Summerhall Distillery is the home of Pickering’s Gin. Open since 2014, this small batch gin distillery is based at Summerhall, a former university veterinary school and now a popular arts venue. The distillery hosts 60-minute guided tours and tastings, where you’ll discover more about Pickering’s Gin and how it is made. You’ll also get to sample a G&T at Summerhall’s Royal Dick Bar next door.

Pickering’s Gin was founded by friends Matt and Marcus in 2013. The pair built the distillery from scratch. They based their gin on a secret recipe dating from 1947, handed down to Marcus by a family friend. The original hand-written note is now on display in the distillery. This recipe has been engineered to create a smooth, full-bodied London Dry style gin. Featuring nine Bombay botanicals; juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica, fennel, anise, lemon, lime and cloves.
