The Edinburgh Mela is dedicated to the very best in world music and dance. Taking its name from the Sanskrit word for ‘gathering’ or ‘to meet’, the festival brings together thousands of people to celebrate Scotland’s diverse culture.

This year, Edinburgh Mela takes place on the first weekend in September on Leith Links. It all kicks of with a special performance from Shooglenifty and Dhun Dora on Friday 31st August. These two bands will be on stage together and will launch their new album “Written in Water” at the event. Tickets on sale now.
Over the weekend, there’s an action packed free programme of festivities planned. There will be a unique mix of performances, exciting foods and drinks, and market stalls. On the main stage, you can catch the biggest acts from all across the world. With a showcase of traditional and modern musical and dance acts, representing many countries including India and China, and African and Arab nations. Highlights include Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band, The Bhangra Beatles, BollyFeat Dancers, Soul Nation and Juggy D.
