Gorgie City Farm, 51 Gorgie Road, Edinburgh, EH11 2LA

Gorgie City Farm is the only working city farm in East and Central Scotland. It is a community-owned initiative, giving free access to inner city children and adults with the aim of educating them about farming and food production. Located in Gorgie, to the west of the city centre, it is easy to get to by car and bus. It is a little bit of countryside in the busy city. A great family day out for all ages.

Meet the Animals

The main attraction at Gorgie City Farm is of course the animals. There are many to see – including sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks and cows. Visitors are able to get up close to them and are sometimes able to feed and hold them.

There is also a small play park and a child-friendly cafe on site. The cafe serves hot meals, drinks and snacks and all the food is home-made and seasonal where possible.

Farm Events and Activities

The farm offers hands on educational and learning opportunities for all visitors. It runs tours, workshops, kids clubs and other organised events. It also takes part in Edinburgh’s various festivals including the Festival Fringe and Storytelling Festival.

Visit Gorgie City Farm

There is no entry fee at the farm, but there’s a suggested donation of £2 per person. This is the main source of income for the project, which costs approximately £900 per day to run. See the Gorgie City Farm website for more information.
