The Camera Obscura and World of Illusions is located at the top of the Royal Mile by the Castle. It is Edinburgh’s oldest purpose built tourist attraction, and is as popular today as ever before.

Stunning Views

The Camera Obscura Show uses a giant periscope to show you Edinburgh in a very unique way. Live moving images are projected onto a large viewing table, giving you a panoramic view of the city which has been delighting audiences since Victorian times. You can also experience spectacular 360° views of Edinburgh from the tower rooftop.

Magic and Illusion

In the World of Illusions exhibitions you can explore a whole world of optical tricks and interactive games. Multiply yourself in a giant kaleidoscope, hold lightning in your hand, paddle in a virtual fish tank, there is so much to discover for people of all ages.
