Last week I went for lunch at Prezzo on North Bridge with my sister. Prezzo is a chain of Italian Restaurants, with over 200 branches across the UK.

First impressions were good. I really liked the modern decor, which was warm and inviting. It is one of those restaurants where you can see the chefs preparing the food. I always find that reassuring. And the fiery pizza oven was a real feature in the room. I loved the display of wine bottles behind the main bar too.

Our waitress was very friendly and service was quick and efficient. The menu had a good selection of pizza, pasta, grills, risottos and salads. I ordered a classic Tre Gusti pizza (pepperoni sausage, seasoned chicken, pancetta bacon, fresh rosemary, mozzarella and tomato), but I requested peppers instead of the pepperoni. I think they misunderstood slightly because my pizza arrived with no pancetta either. This made it a bit less interesting, but it was still a good pizza. The base was lovely and crispy, just how I like it!

For dessert I had the Honeycomb Smash Cheesecake, which was so delicious. Baked cheesecake blended and topped with crunchy honeycomb pieces coated in chocolate. Yum!

I had a midweek voucher offering ‘2 mains for £12.95’, which I received by signing up to their mailing list online. It was very quick to do – I just did it on my phone when we first arrived. They then sent me a code by email, which I showed when I asked for the bill. As most mains are priced at around £10 this was a great deal!

Lovely meal, just a shame I didn’t get pancetta on my pizza. I would still go back though.
