Sunday was Father’s Day, so the kids and I took Daddy out for lunch at The Pantry in Colinton. This is a new sister restaurant to The Pantry in Stockbridge. We had never been before and were looking forward to trying out their famous all day breakfast menu.
It was really busy when we arrived at 1.30 pm. We sat in the back part of the restaurant, next to the children’s play area. This was perfect for us. I’m always on the look out for nice places to eat that also have something to keep the kids amused. Ours are only 2 and 4, so they don’t sit still for long.
We received a warm welcome from the staff and our order was taken quickly. The drinks arrived shortly after, but it took about 50 minutes for the food to come. This was a really long wait, so we were very happy that the kids were entertained in the play area.
The food, however, was worth the wait! I had ‘Sunshine on Spylaw’, which was thyme and pimento roasted tomatoes, spiced sweet potato, roasted aubergine, poblano chile pepper, chorizo and two poached eggs on chunky toast. I really enjoyed it. An unusual combination of ingredients for a breakfast menu, but they went together so well and it was nice to try something different. My husband had the Salt Beef Hash, which he said was amazing. The kids shared a bowl of penne in roasted tomato sauce from the children’s menu. The portion was more than enough for the two of them and they both loved it. Clean plates all round!
We had a lovely time at The Pantry in Colinton. A great Father’s Day treat. Main meals were about £10 each, which we thought was good value. They also had a lovely looking cake selection, which we will be back to sample!
