I was recently invited to stay and review the Knight Residence, serviced apartments in Edinburgh. As my husband and I were going out for a Burns Supper in town last weekend, we jumped at the chance of some city centre accommodation. So much easier than getting home by bus or taxi! Plus, the apartments looked really nice and it’s always lovely to have a night away.
We checked in as soon as we could, at about 2.30 pm. The reception staff were helpful and one of them came up to the apartment to make sure we had everything we needed. We were in apartment 13, and we were very happy with it. We had a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen. It was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished and decorated.
It had all the facilities we would expect from a holiday apartment. Toiletries in the bathroom, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, dishwasher, washing machine etc. But it was the little touches that made the place extra special. There was complimentary milk, orange juice and bread waiting in the kitchen, along with a small breakfast hamper. A shopping bag was available for use if going out to the shops. There was even a smartphone included, which was free to use during our stay. It offered free calls and internet, and there was a great local city guide on there to help plan holiday activities. The bed was really comfy too. I didn’t want to get up in the morning!
We didn’t use the self-catering facilities as we were out for dinner and breakfast (lucky us!). But, we did get to try the Brodies tea and some shortbread biscuits, which had been left for us in the kitchen. Both were excellent.
We had such a lovely stay at the Knight Residence. Rates start from around £100 per night. That’s about the same price as a hotel room, but I think this is much better value for money. The apartment was of the same standard as a nice 4 star hotel, but with more space, self-catering facilities and the added extra little conveniences mentioned above. We would definitely stay here again. It would also be perfect to bring the kids along, as they offer 2 bedroom apartments.
