The Potter Trail
Meeting point: 4 Greyfriars Place, Edinburgh, EH1 2QQ
This is the original tour created for Harry Potter fans in Edinburgh. Led by a robed guide, you’ll be taken on a magical journey through the city’s most inspiring locations. Discover the places that inspired characters and scenes from the series and visit the cafés and spots where the books were written. The experience is not only for Potter fans though, as the tour also explores Edinburgh’s fascinating history.
All Potter Trail guides are trained comic performers, bringing exceptional enthusiasm, humour and theatrical flair to every tour. Their engaging storytelling helps bring both the wizarding world and Edinburgh’s rich heritage to life. Founded in 2012, the tour has grown in popularity while remaining independently run. Public tours are free to join, allowing you to enjoy the experience before making an optional donation at the end. However, you must still book in advance to secure your place. Private tours are also available for a fee. Groups of 6 or more must book a private tour.
