Corstorphine Hill

Corstorphine Hill is an L-shaped ridge of mature woodland and parkland that peaks at 531 feet (162 metres). Its elevated position provides wonderful views across Edinburgh, stretching to the Firth of Forth, Pentland Hills, parts of East Lothian, Fife and beyond. With a network of well-maintained paths and open grassy spaces, this is a popular destination for walkers, runners and cyclists. At the top of the hill stands Corstorphine Tower, a striking Victorian memorial to the celebrated Scottish writer, Sir Walter Scott. Access to climb the tower is limited to selected open days and specific times of the year.
The area is a designated local nature reserve, and a haven for local wildlife. Its varied habitats support many species, including badgers, foxes, roe deer, bats, woodpeckers, and birds of prey such as buzzards, kestrels and owls. The reserve is also home to a rich variety of native plants, fungi and insects. Supported by the Friends of Corstorphine Hill, this is a beautiful park to visit in the west of the city.
