The King’s Gallery

The Queen’s Gallery opened in 2002 to mark the Golden Jubilee (50th year of reign) of Queen Elizabeth II and was renamed the King’s Gallery after King Charles III came to the throne in 2022. It is located beside the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The gallery presents a rolling calendar of exhibitions from the Royal Collection, featuring items such as paintings, photographs, furniture, decorative objects and other artworks.
The gallery is housed in a 19th-century former church building within the grounds of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The building was completely renovated inside in a traditional style to suit its age, and a new arched entrance was added to the exterior with large oak doors, golden motifs and stone lettering. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 as part of her Golden Jubilee Celebrations. Please note, you need separate admission tickets for the palace and the gallery.
